Donna Joyce Litherland, age 78, of Bakersfield, CA, and rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice.
Donna was born in Moorhead, MN, on Oct. 15, 1927. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead. She received her bachelor's degree from North Dakota State University (as a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma) Fargo, and a master's degree from Fresno (CA) State University. She taught at Page, ND, Sierra Junior High School, Bakersfield, and Bakersfield College, where she was a teacher and counselor.
She was a world traveler, fitness buff, artist and author, who was loved by family and friends, in both California and Minnesota. Her summer months were spent on the north shore of Pelican Lake.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart Marion Litherland and Mildred Carlson Litherland, and her bother, John Burke Litherland. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Phyllis) Litherland of Moorhead; and four nieces, Sue Litherland, Chicago, IL, Jan (James) Coffelt, Lakewood, CO, Teri (Jerome) Thorsen, Moorhead, and Caren Litherland, New York, NY.
