Donna M. Stach

Donna Marie Smaaladen was born October 31, 1935, in McVille, ND, to Adeline (Smaaland) and Henning Smaaladen. Following her fathers death on October 16, 1940, her mother married Ansgar Hanson on November 9, 1944. Donna was raised on the family farm in the Aneta-Kloten, ND, area where she also attended rural school.

Donna graduated from high school in Aneta, in 1953, and then attended college in Mayville, ND. She taught school in rural Aneta until she moved to Moorhead, MN. Donna married Henry "Hank" Stach on October 13, 1956, and they had two children, Pamela and Michael.

Donna worked at Archies in Dilworth, MN, for over twenty years. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and traveling with the love of her life, Glenn "Sonny" Riggle. Donna was a fun-loving and generous person, always helping others.

Donna died Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, at eighty-one years of age, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. She will be dearly missed by her numerous family and friends.

Donna is survived by her life-companion of over forty years, Glenn "Sonny" Riggle; many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; daughter, Pamela in 1986; son, Michael in 1988; and many aunts and uncles.

According to Donna's wishes, she will be buried next to her children. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 1 PM, at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
