Doris "Dorie" Jacobs

Doris "Dorie" Catherine Jacobs, age 92, of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2019, surrounded by loved ones at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, under Hospice care.

Dorie was born in Amenia, ND, on October 15, 1926, to Alphonse and Albertine (Richard) Gervais. Dorie grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. Dorie worked for Western Union from 1945 to 1950 as an operator in Minneapolis, MN, where she met her future husband, Leo Jacobs. Dorie and Leo moved back to Moorhead where they married on May 7, 1949. Dorie filled her days raising their seven children. Dorie was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Guild and the Christian Mothers' Association.

Dorie is survived by six sons, Mike Jacobs of Corona, CA, Gregory (Deborah) Jacobs of Bullhead City, AZ, Rodney (Laura) Jacobs of Moorhead, James (Sherry) Jacobs of Pelican Rapids, MN, Mark Jacobs of Moorhead, and Robert (Nympha) Jacobs of Moorhead; and one daughter, Mary (Timothy) Sanger of Grand Forks, ND. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Donna Gervais and Helen Jacobs; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Dorie was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Jacobs; two sisters, Arlene Vorgert and Virginia Lindberg; two brothers, Wallace Gervais and Donald Gervais; and one daughter-in-law, Patricia "Tish" Jacobs.

Dorie and her family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Red River Valley and at Eventide on Eighth for her care and their compassion. In lieu of flowers, Dorie requests memorials to be sent to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 PM, Friday, September 27, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
