Doris A. Grohnke

Doris A. Grohnke, 96, Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, under the care of Ethos Hospice.

Doris Ann (Tanke) Grohnke was born on March 31, 1928, in Grafton, ND, to Theodore and Adeline Tanke.

Doris married Daniel A. Grohnke on October 25, 1952, in Grafton. Dan and Doris started their lives together in Dilworth, MN. The couple then made their home in Moorhead, where they raised their four children, Debra, Daniel, Jr., Dianne, and Allyson.

Doris was an avid lover of music. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She taught piano lessons for several years mentoring children from ages 6 to 18. She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and confirmation classes. She also was an active member of the choir, singing in the choir and eventually becoming the choral director.

Doris is survived by her four children, Debra (Gary) Bakke, New Richmond, WI, Daniel (Denise) Grohnke, Jr., Fort Wayne, IN, Dianne (Michael) DiLiberto, Glendale, AZ, Allyson (Kevin) Boe, Moorhead; four grandchildren, Daniel and Michael Bakke, and Emily and Megan Grohnke. She is also survived by her sister and three brothers, Vivian Miller, Harold, Rodney and Larry Tanke.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dan, who died on May 21, 2014.

Memorials are preferred to Ethos Home Health Care and Hospice.

A public visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 10 am to 11 am, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN. A private family service will be held. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN, at a later date.
