God called Doris I. Sall, 94, home on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, from the Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN.
Doris Irene Thompson, daughter of Daniel and Anne (Hanson) Thompson, was born in Minneapolis, MN, October 16, 1914. She grew up and received her education in Minneapolis, where she graduated from high school. As a young lady, she moved to Arizona, where she worked in her aunt and uncle's café. She later returned to Minneapolis, where she married the love of her life, Carl Sall, on Sept. 2, 1938.
They lived in Comstock, MN, and then in Hickson, ND, where they owned and operated a general store and post office, where she was postmistress, first living above the store, and later in a home nearby. Doris also worked at S & L Clothing Store and at Sears, both in Fargo. She worked at Sears for 19 years and retired in 1976. Doris and Carl cherished the time they spent with family at their lake cabin on Big Elbow Lake, MN. In retirement, the couple lived in the Cooperative Living Center, West Fargo, ND, and then for 10 years at Riverview Place, Fargo, ND. In 2008, Doris moved to Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN.
Doris is survived by one son, Ronald (Sharon) Sall, Moorhead; daughter-in-law, Patti Sall, Missoula, MT; two brothers, Lloyd and Richard (JoAnne) Thompson, both Minneapolis; five grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, who died in February of 1999; a son, Darrell, who died in February of 1997; and her parents. Doris was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother who will be greatly missed.
