Doris J. Erickson, 76, Fargo, ND, died Monday, May 9, 2011, in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.
Doris Jean Montry was born July 6, 1934, to Peter and Margaret (Saice) Montry in Greenbush, MN. She graduated from Greenbush High School and worked on a turkey farm in Viking, MN, and Greenbush.
On November 13, 1963, Doris married David R. Erickson in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home in Thief River Falls where Doris raised their four children.
In 1973, the family moved to Fargo where Doris worked for Minn Kota, The Hotel Donaldson, and at GPK, from which she retired. Doris was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and had a strong dislike for the Green Bay Packers. She enjoyed playing softball and at one time participated in snowmobile races, racing for Arctic Cat. Doris was also an excellent cook and baker. Those who knew her lovingly called her mom or grandma.
Doris is survived by her husband, David; four children, Michelle Krupich (Gary Sloan), Lisa Erickson, Albin Erickson, and Billie (Jason) Carlson; a brother, Fred Montry; and four grandchildren, Chad and Ashley Krupich and Magnolia and Leo Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
