Doris Jean Hample was born to George and Mollie (Kitzman) Hample in Oakes, ND, on October 4, 1944. She spent her early years growing up in the Oakes and Fargo, ND, areas. Her family moved to Spokane, WA, in 1954, before returning to Fargo in 1957. She graduated from Fargo High School in 1962.
On May 7, 1966, Doris was united in marriage to Douglas V. Krabbenhoft in Fargo. They made their home in Moorhead, MN, before moving to their farm in Sabin, MN. Doris worked at Blue Cross for many years before devoting her life to her family, raising three children.
Doris completed a seven year study in Bible Study Fellowship. She taught Sunday school at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, and Glyndon Lutheran Church in Glyndon, MN.
In early years, she was a Shaklee Distributor, with an office in Moorhead. She was also an EMT with the Sabin Rescue Squad. In later years, she was a reflexologist with an office in Glyndon. Doris was best known for her love and devotion to her family. She also had a kind heart for all of her pets.
Doris fought a courageous battle with cancer for seven years. She received much loving care and support from her cousin, Lyla Walberg, and her husband, LeRoy, and those at the Palliative Care Unit at MeritCare, Triumph Nursing Home, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and Golden Living Center, Moorhead.
Doris passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Golden Living Center, at sixty-four years of age.
She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas, Sabin; and her three children, Michael, Maple Grove, MN, Eric, Moorhead, and Kristi Krabbenhoft, Fargo. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mollie.
Visitation for Doris will be Friday, January 23, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 10:30 AM, in Glyndon Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
