Dorothy Alice Dosland, age 80, of Perley, MN, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy Alice Nichols was born May 2, 1928, in Borup, MN, to Orville and Clara (Jacobson) Nichols. She was baptized and confirmed at Winchester Lutheran Church in Borup. She attended school and graduated from Borup High School in 1946.
Dorothy attended and graduated from Josef's Hairdressing Academy in Fargo, ND, and worked as a cosmetologist in Ada, MN before starting a family. Dorothy married LeRoy B. Dosland on September 28, 1948, at Winchester Lutheran Church, Borup. They moved to the Dosland family farm in Lee Township, rural Perley, where they raised their six children. She spent a major part of her life raising her family and caring for the many relatives that called the Dosland farm 'home'. She was involved with all aspects of the farm and enjoyed helping LeRoy with all the ongoing projects. She spent several seasons working in the Perley Piler scale house for American Crystal Sugar. She was an active lifetime member of the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley, serving in many ways with the Ladies Aid and Sunday School. Since 1991, she was an associate member of Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner, ND, where she was involved in the WELCA.
In October 2008, Dorothy moved to Eventide Lutheran Home. She established new friendships and considered this her home.
Dorothy spent hours knitting, crocheting, and quilting, always having several projects in progress. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her kringle. In later years, she enjoyed researching genealogy. She loved spending time and caring for her grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed people and loved visiting with friends and family.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Connie (Lynde David) Gunkel, Bismarck, ND, Penny (David) Herzog, Ulen, MN, Mardy (Margaret) Dosland, Perley, Judy (Terry) Guttormson, Hendrum, MN, Cindy (Wayne) Budke, Fargo, and Brendy (Mark) Jossund, Moorhead; grandchildren, Lance (Carolyn) Gunkel, Jason (Jackie) Gunkel, Kiley and Karley Dosland, Tony and Jenna Guttormson, Andrew, Matthew, and Emily Budke, Erica, Bryce, and Carson Jossund; great-grandson William Gunkel; sister Zoni Nichols Kemmer Hanson, Fargo; sisters-in-law Carolyn (Ron) Baker, Ada, and Alice Dosland, Fargo; several nieces and nephews; and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by LeRoy, her husband of nearly 60 years, on August 14, 2008; her parents, Orville and Clara; and brothers Lester, Stanley, James (infant), Everett, Clifford, and Orvind.
Dorothy will be dearly missed, but will remain forever in our hearts.
Memorials are preferred to Bethania Cemetery Association, Nora Lutheran Church, or Eventide Lutheran Home.

Visitation for Dorothy will be Thursday, March 12, 2009, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Friday, March 13, 2009, at 2 PM, in Nora Lutheran Church, rural Gardner.
