On Sunday, June 5, 2022, Dorothy Ann Granrud went to be with her Lord at the age of 93, at Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN, after a lengthy illness.
Dorothy was born October 4, 1927, in St. Thomas, ND, to Belford and Lena (Dumansky) Bellinger. She went to nursing school at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND, and worked for many years as an RN at St. Ansgar in Moorhead, later transitioning to St. Luke’s/MeritCare, Fargo, ND, where she was a med-surg head nurse for many years. Once she retired from nursing, she spent her time volunteering at MeritCare, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, and the Salvation Army.
She started her life living in St. Thomas, ND, where she married Elmer Granrud in 1949. They moved to Bismarck, ND, and later settled in Moorhead, for the remainder of her life.
She was a wonderful, devoted mother to her children, who kept her busy. She was always optimistic and had a great outlook on life.
She happily tended her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed cooking and utilized her vegetables from the gardens. She made great pickles and raspberry pie, using fresh raspberries that were picked from the Granrud Fruit Farm that she and Elmer owned and operated outside of Rollag, MN, on Lake 15. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and taking long walks.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Marge; her brothers, Willis, and Kenneth; her husband, Elmer, in 1983; and her infant son, Ronald.
She is survived by her remaining children, Jerry (Jennifer), Tacoma, WA, Greg (Sherrie), Saint Anthony Village, MN, Jeffery (Tressa), Becker, MN, and Richard (Linda), Hawley, MN; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Dorothy will begin at 12 noon, followed by a funeral at 1 PM, Monday, June 13, 2022, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
