Dorothy Margaret Seed, 93, of Moorhead, MN, formerly St. Vincent, MN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Eventide in Moorhead.
Dorothy Leech was born September 2, 1915, daughter of Donald and Lulu (Black) Leech. She proudly graduated from West High School, Rockford, Illinois, an older-than-average student, on January 29, 1943, with official commencement on June 10, 1943.
She married Marvin Seed on November 14, 1946, following Marvin's service in the Army during WWII in the Southwest Pacific. Dorothy worked as a milk tester with the Dairy Herd Improvement Association in Winnebago County, Illinois, prior to their marriage. She, however, will always be remembered for being an incredibly loving and sacrificial mother to her children, and a devoted wife to Marvin. They shared nearly 52 years together and lived on their farm near St. Vincent for more than 49 years.
Dorothy's fresh baked bread each week, her wonderful meals/pies, gardening and canning skills, her sacrificial love and care for her family, and most importantly - placing God's Word in the hands of her children, will forever be her legacy. Mom was incredibly well-read, continuing her love of reading and learning until just recently. She also mastered the piano and especially loved the playing and singing of gospel hymns. We loved her very much and are so very proud of her!
Dorothy is survived by daughter, Virginia (Seed) Nulle, Moorhead; sons, Carl (Peggy) Seed, Thief River Falls, MN; Larry Seed, Kalispell, MT, her beloved former son-in-law, Dennis Nulle, Fargo, ND; sister, Betty Leech, Rockford, IL; eight grandchildren, Angela (James) Ramey, Savage, MN, Christopher (Sara) Nulle, Denver, CO, Adam (Annette) Seed, Thief River Falls, MN; Katie Seed, Thief River Falls, Shanna Somers, Moorhead, Katrina Seed, Joshua Seed, and Calinda Seed; great-granddaughters, Grace Kelly Ramey, Gracy Adam Seed and Abigail Jean Seed; and additional great-grandchildren we pray she will meet in Heaven one day. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
