Dorothy V. Nord

Dorothy V. Nord, age 90, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Dorothy V. Isaacson, the daughter of Isaac and Hilda (Salo) Isaacson, was born at Lake Nordin, SD, on March 3, 1916. She grew up and received her education in Minneapolis, MN. In 1933, she moved to Monroe, LA, to live with an older sister and her husband. While there, she graduated from high school in 1934. She received her nurses training in Monroe, where she graduated in 1939. She took additional training in Chicago, IL.
In 1940, Dorothy moved to Grand Forks, ND, where she was a nurse at Deaconess Hospital. While in Grand Forks, she met her future husband, J. Erling Nord, who was a medical student. On June 12, 1942, she was married to Dr. Nord, at Jamestown, ND. They lived in Philadelphia, PA, and in Minneapolis. In 1946, they moved to Hallock, MN, in 1957, to Staples, MN, in 1965, to Moorhead, and in 1966, to Hawley, MN. Erling, died March 9, 1974.
Following his death, Dorothy returned to Moorhead, where she worked as a nurse at Eventide Lutheran Home, until she retired. In 1986, Dorothy became a resident of Eventide Living Center. On January 31, 2007, she moved to Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Warren (Dia) Nord, Claremont, MN, Jan (Gary) Ness, Boise, Idaho, Carole (Steve) Lage, Vergas, MN, and Sue (Mark) Heidecker, Rollag, MN; a sister, Alice Ferguson, Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Natalie Nord, John (Jen) Nord, Jenn (Joe) Hettiarchchy, Kam (Brent) Tuck, Jessica Lage, Rory (Ryan) Tangen, and Mike (Kristen) Heidecker; five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Sarah Tangen, Rachel and Kaitlyn Hettiarchchy, and Tatum Rader; and special friends, Sandy and Jim Pettersen and family and the Tureson family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, Danielle Nord; and eleven brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Eventide Living Center - activity fund.
Memorial service: Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 2:30 PM, in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
