Dorothy V. Peterson, age 85, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo.
Dorothy Virginia Harksen, the daughter of John and Hilda (Amundson) Harksen, was born February 11, 1921 at Aberdeen, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Webster, SD, where she received her education and graduated from high school.
On January 15, 1949, Dorothy married Ellsworth Peterson at Watertown, SD, where they lived. They also lived at Webster and McLaughlin, SD, before moving to Mayville, ND in 1954. In 1958, they came to Fargo, where they had lived since. Her husband, Ellsworth, died in 1985. After his death, Dorothy continued to live in Fargo. She enjoyed baking pies, working as a volunteer at her church and at Bethany Homes, and sewing. She sewed many "teddy bears" for the Ronald McDonald House.
Dorothy is survived by her children, JoAnn (David) Moquist, Crystal, ND, and John (Wanda) Peterson, Fargo; a sister, Rosemary Nilson, Webster; and seven grandchildren, Andy, Becca, Sarah, Emily, and Jonathan Moquist and Josh and Matt Peterson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, J.C. "Jack" Harksen.
Visitation: Wednesday, from 10 AM until 11 AM, at the church.
Funeral service: Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at 11 AM,
Hope Lutheran Church, north campus, Fargo.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
