Dr. David E. Whittenberg
August 23, 1915 — November 14, 2007
David Ernest Whittenberg Jr. was born on August 23, 1915, in Alexandria, MN. He was raised and educated in Hibbing, MN. During WWII, David served in the Army Air Corp as a pilot.
After his honorable discharge he began his life-long work as a chiropractor, practicing for 50 years. In 1965, David married Mina Mae Dittes in Grace United Methodist Church. Together they worked in David's downtown Moorhead chiropractic office. He was also a member of the Wadena Masonic Lodge.
In 2002, they moved to Colorado Springs, CO, but returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area in November of 2004. On March 3, 2005, Mina died. David became a resident of the Villa Maria, Fargo, where he died on Thursday, November 14, 2007.
He is survived by a step-son, William Dittes Jr, Fargo; a brother, Jim (Barb) Whittenberg, Hutchinson, MN; a step-granddaughter, Dawn Marie Cossette; two step-great-grandchildren, Austin and Alyssa; and two chosen grandchildren, Zachary and Vincent.
Visitation: Friday from 4 - 6 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Service: Saturday, November 17, 2007, at 10:30 AM, in Grace United Methodist Church, Moorhead.
Inurnment: Fairview Cemetery, Robinson, ND
