Duaine "Shorty" Krabbenhoft

Duaine O. Krabbenhoft, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Sabin, MN, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND, at the age of 85.

Duaine Orland Krabbenhoft, known as "Shorty" was born to Henning and Mary (Huesman) Krabbenhoft, on October 27, 1928, on the family farm near Sabin. He grew up and attended school in rural Sabin. He graduated from Moorhead High School and attended Moorhead State Teachers College for a year.

Duaine served his country in the US Army from February of 1951 until he was honorably discharged on December 23, 1952. After discharge, he returned to Sabin.

On December 29, 1955, Duaine was married to Nettie Harrison. They lived in Moorhead and in Sabin, prior to making their home on the Krabbenhoft family farm. Duaine farmed until he retired in 1992. He enjoyed spear fishing, deer hunting, and spending time with family. He served his community on the Kragnes Elevator Board, and as a member of the church council and as treasurer of Trinity Lutheran Church.

In March of 2009, Duaine became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie, Moorhead; three children Jeffrey (Jolette) Krabbenhoft, Fargo, Joanne (Dave) Herbranson, Rollag, MN, and David (Crystal Ames) Krabbenhoft, Moorhead; a brother, Marvin (Betty) Krabbenhoft, Moorhead; ten grandchildren, Joseph (Nichole), Christopher and Scott Krabbenhoft, Laura (Paul) Anderson, Jaynie (Justin) Halvorson, Erica (Jordan Zillmer), Nicole, and Mason Herbranson, and Keisha and Rylee Krabbenhoft; and four great-grandchildren, Kyler Krabbenhoft, Thomas and Will Anderson, and Sophie Hackett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lorraine Sauter, and Kenneth, Delmar and Leslie Krabbenhoft

Visitation: Friday, 5 PM until 7 PM, with prayer service at 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral, Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 2 PM in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin. Burial, Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin.
