Duane L. Fuchs

Duane Lloyd Fuchs, LaMoure, ND, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014, in Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND. Duane was born on the family farm by Glyndon, M N, to Archie and Clara (Olson) Fuchs on November 9, 1932. He was one of six children, Adeline, Elaine, George, Dennis, and Laverne. He was baptized and confirmed in Glyndon Lutheran Church. Later on, he was a member of First Lutheran Church, Fargo.

Duane continued his father dream of living on the farm and raising cattle. He was a business partner at ABF Construction where he was a builder/bricklayer/concrete contractor and built many residential and commercial properties in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Even in retirement he continued to build a garage and decks.

He married Gloria Bengtson on January 10, 1959, at Lake Park, MN . Together they raised 3 children, Nancy Messerschmidt, Terry Fuchs and Vickie Standfield. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends and enjoying the cottage that he built on Lake Ida.

In 1990, Duane met Alice Long at a dance in Fargo and were married on June 5, 1992. They made their home in LaMoure, ND, where they enjoyed 22 years of marriage. They spent 17 winters in Donna, TX. Duane enjoyed a good laugh, shuffleboard, coffee with friends and family , cards, watching westerns and Twins and Vikings games. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran English Church, LaMoure.

In later years, Duane experienced many health issues but he always kept an accepting attitude and a smile on his face. He spent the last 2 months at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure .

Duane leaves behind his wife, Alice; his children, Nancy Messerschmidt , Terry (Amy) Fuchs , and Vickie Standfield; grandchildren, Tara (David) Snyder, Brittany (Alex) Rassmussen, Blake Standfield, Hunter Standfield, Ashley Fuchs, and Brianna Fleck; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Kendra Rasmussen, Aela Hertz, and Ava Snyder; his stepfamily, Kristine ( Jacques) Gagne, Rod Long, Jeff (Lolita) Long; stepgrandchildren, Vanessa (Ransom) Jones, Jennifer Long, and Clayton Long; stepgreat-grandchildren, Benson and Finley Jones; his sister, Adeline Wang; brother-in-law, Wes Rudd; sisters-in-law, Patricia Fuchs, and Patsy Fuchs.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elaine Rudd and Laverne Fuchs; brothers, George and Dennis; nephew, Kevin Fuchs; and a stepdaughter-in-law, Illa Long.

Visitation will be held at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN, Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM.

The Funeral will be held at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2601 23rd Ave S, Fargo, at 11 AM, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Glyndon, MN.
