Duane L. Godel, age 88, of Dilworth, MN, formerly of Warren, MN, died Sunday, October 27, 2019, in Lilac Homes, Dilworth.
Duane Leonard Godel, the son of Floyd and Evelyn (Anderson) Godel, was born August 7, 1931, in Warren. He grew up on the family homestead and graduated from Warren High School. After his education, he joined his father and his uncle in farming.
Duane served his country in the US Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
On December 18, 1954, Duane was married to Georgie Hamilton, in Crookston, MN. Following his discharge from the Army in 1957, the couple made their home on the family farm near Warren. He received the honor of being named a Master Farmer. In 1987, the couple retired from farming and moved to their lake home on White Earth Lake, near Waubun, MN.
His wife, Georgie, died on December 22, 2011. Duane later moved to Moorhead.
Duane is survived by two daughters, Kim (Brent) Lee, Dilworth, and Diane Lundgren, Newport, WA; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Lindstrom and Myrna (Fred) Super. In addition to his wife, Georgie, Duane was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Shirley Cockrell.
A graveside service for Duane will be held in the spring of 2020, in Evergreen Cemetery, Warren.
