Earl W. "Bill" Fridgen

E. W. "Bill" Fridgen, 79, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, November 23, 2012, in his home surrounded by loving family. Bill was born May 27, 1933, to William H. and Emmeline M. (Doll) Fridgen at Sabin, MN. He attended elementary school in Sabin until March 1943, when he moved with his parents to Barnesville, MN, graduating from Barnesville High school in 1952.

In 1944, Bill joined the Boy Scouts of America and was an active member for over thirty years. He attended Dakota Business School and Moorhead State University. Bill worked at Peavey Elevator in Barnesville as assistant manager and American Crystal Sugar. He married Grace D. Rutten on June 10, 1958, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Wild Rice, ND.

They lived in Kevin, MT, for two years and in 1960, moved to Moorhead. Bill and Grace met at a dance class and were active for many years with square dancing in the FM area. Bill, Grace, and family spent many happy summers traveling to various parts of the United States and Canada.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eileen Archbold; and grandson, Samuel Halvorson.

Bill is survived by his wife, Grace, and their children, Andrew (Julie) Fridgen, Neilsville, MN, Emily (Marvin) Halvorson, Sabin, MN, Barbara (Jack) Nyberg, Perley, MN, and William (Mary) Fridgen, Hawley, MN; seven grandchildren, Kendra, Alynn and Ella Fridgen, Beth (Daniel) Nelson and Luke Halvorson, and Zach and Lucas Nyberg. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November, 27, 2012, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.

The funeral mass will be Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 2 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
