Edna Adeline Lian, 96, Fargo, ND, formerly Dilworth, MN, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Edna Adeline Smith, the daughter of Faltin and Augusta (Johnson) Smith, was born December 30, 1912, near Caledonia, ND, where she grew up and received her education. On December 1, 1931, Edna was united in marriage to Sidney Lian, in Crookston, MN.
Following their marriage, they farmed near Gatzke, MN. In 1950, they moved to Fargo, and later to Moorhead, MN. Edna worked at Model Laundry in Fargo, and then traveled with her husband, as he worked at various construction projects. In the early 1970s they returned to Moorhead. Sidney died January 14, 1972. Following his death, Edna continued to live in Moorhead where she volunteered at the Moorhead Thrift Store for many years. In 1990, she moved to Dilworth, MN. In 2005, she became a resident of Golden Living Center, Moorhead, and in 2008, Elim Care Center, Fargo.
Edna is survived by her three children, Larry (Dorothy) Lian, Mabank, TX, Sally (Marvin) Erickson, Lake Park, MN, and Mary (Floyd) Marshall, Moorhead; a sister, Margaret Gabrielson, Fargo; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Edna was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Vernon; a brother, Fay; and sisters, Marion, Vivian and Unita.

Funeral: Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at 2 PM,
Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
