Edna M. Marchand

Edna "Nena" Mae Marchand, the daughter of Herbert "Shorty" and Marie (Saul) Anderson, was born in Fargo, ND, on February 3, 1920. Her family stayed in Fargo/ Moorhead, where Nena attended through her junior year of high school in the public schools.

On June 22, 1938, Nena was married to Raymond Marchand. Following their marriage, they lived in Moorhead. In 1941, they moved to California. They returned to Moorhead in 1947. In her last few years she lived in Rochester, MN, to be close to her eldest daughter.

During married life, she was a devoted mother and wife. Along with taking care of the home and her young daughters, Nena did drapery work and crafted her art of knitting and crocheting. She was a state fair champion for her "Loopy Booties" and table doilies. When the girls were older, she got a job as a waitress at the FM Hotel. When her daughters were grown and married, Nena spent her time volunteering at the "This and That" consignment store where her grandchildren could visit her and admire her hard work ethic.

Nena died Monday, September 10, 2018, in Rochester East Health Services, at ninety-eight years of age.

Nena is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Peterson, Rochester, and Joan (Mylo) Falstad, Valley City, ND; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Nena was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold and Herbert; her husband, Raymond; their daughter, Laurel "Lolli;" and their great-grandson, Jordan.

Visitation will be from 12 PM to 1 PM, with the funeral mass at 1 PM, Friday, September 14, 2018, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial will take place in St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
