Edna J. Mattson, 89, Aberdeen, SD, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, in Bethesda Home, Aberdeen.
Edna "Edie" Jeanette Christiansen was born November 7, 1917, in Vining, MN, to Anton and Caroline Christiansen. She was raised in the Argusville, ND, area where she attended school.
On November 8, 1938, Edie married James O. Mattson in Sisseton, SD. They made their home in Fargo, ND. Edie worked as a housekeeper, for Kelly Services, and for American Crystal Sugar. Edie and James eventually moved to Moorhead. James died on September 9, 1981, and Edie continued to make her home in Moorhead until moving to Aberdeen in 2000.
Edie was an excellent gardener and loved flowers, especially those of the color pink. She was an immaculate housekeeper and enjoyed having company at her home for a cup of coffee and cookies. She was an extremely capable woman who could easily check the oil on her car or do everyday household tasks.
She is lovingly survived by two daughters, Janice (Gary) Peterson and Shari (Frank) Aabye; a son, James Jr. (Barb) Mattson; a sister, Delores (Jim) Tritchler; a sister-in-law, Margie Otte; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Friday from 9 - 11 AM in Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo.
