Edward A. Anderson

Edward A. Anderson, 80, of Glyndon, MN, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, in the Minnesota Veteran’s Home, Fergus Falls, MN. 

Edward Arnold Anderson was born May 3, 1944, the son of August and Alberta Anderson in Rush City, MN. He was raised in Kelly Lake, MN and graduated from Hibbing (MN) High School. Following his graduation, Edward proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge he returned to Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota-Crookston where he was a Culinary Arts Student.

On October 12, 1968, he was united in marriage to Alta Bailey in Hibbing. The couple first made their home in Hibbing before moving to Mayville, ND, where Edward served as the Food Service Director at Mayville State University. Their journey continued in Carrington, ND, where he managed the Prairie Inn Restaurant. Eventually, the family settled on a farm near Glyndon, MN. After moving to Glyndon, Edward managed the Village Inn before concluding his career as a phone operator for AT&T in Fargo. Following the passing of Alta on June 1, 2001, Edward continued to make his home on the farm before moving to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. 

He was a long-time and very active member of Northview Church in Fargo. 

Outside of his professional endeavors, Edward found joy working on the farm and being outdoors. He also had a passion for music and was honored to record a Gospel Album, a testament to his love for singing. 

He is survived by his children, Robert Anderson, Moorhead, MN, Joseph Anderson, Bancroft, NE, Roni (Joel) Nix, Williston, ND, and Yvonne (David) Allen, North Carolina; grandchildren, Holly, Timothy, Lucas, Cara, Joey, Breanna, Bailey, Carson, Hannah, Jordan, Katy and Kael; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Olivia and Aubrianna; and former spouse, Jeannie Suz Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alta; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Beth Anderson and Wendell and Virginia Anderson; and brother, Dale. 

A Celebration of Edward’s Life will be at 5:00 PM, Saturday, January 11, 2025, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. He will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
