Edwin Carl Nelson was born August 5, 1920, on the family farm near Perley, MN, to Carl and Katherine (Schibsted) Nelson. Edwin attended schools in the area and graduated from Hendrum High School in 1938.
He was married to Ellen Erickson on January 6, 1951, in Tower City, ND, and they continued to make their home on the family farm near Perley.
As a young man, Edwin was a good baseball player. He played amateur baseball with the local teams as time on the farm would allow.
Edwin died Saturday, April 7, 2012, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND, at ninety-one years of age.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Ellen, Perley; four daughters, Marlys (Rick) Mangus, Castle Rock, CO, Carolyn Nelson, Bloomington, MN, Joyce (David) Cutaia, Apple Valley, MN, and Barbara (Dennis) Olson, Plymouth, MN; a son, Loren (Nancy) Nelson, Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; a sister, Frances Aabye, Moorhead; a brother, George (Betty) Nelson, Perley; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Nelson, Perley.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012, from 1 - 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Tuesday at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
