Effie K. Johnson, 98, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Effie K. Amundson, the daughter of Lewis and Gina (Erickson) Amundson, was born March 5, 1912, in Christine, ND, where she grew up and received her education. She graduated from Christine High School in about 1930.
On November 7, 1931, Effie was married to Ernest Johnson in South Dakota. They lived in Hickson, ND, Seattle, WA, and Christine, prior to making their home in Moorhead in 1955. Effie was a homemaker and assisted her husband as a bookkeeper in their business, Johnson Oil Company. She enjoyed making flower baskets and sewing baby blankets for many family and friends. They traveled extensively, especially on the auto racing circuit, where Ernie was a racer. The couple spent many winters in Englewood, Florida.
Her husband, Ernie, died in April of 1992. After his death, she continued to make her home in Moorhead.
Effie was a generous and hospitable lady, who enjoyed entertaining in her home. She is survived by a sister, Lillian Erwin of Santee, CA; a brother, Gerhard Amundson of Fargo; and 34 nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Amelia Wicklund, Gladys Wicklund, Doris Wolff, and Thora Amundson; and a brother, Torfin Amundson.
Memorials are preferred to the Christine (ND) Cemetery.
