Eileen Dewey

January 20, 1918 — August 30, 2004

Eileen C. Dewey (Muriel Eileen Crowley) was born January 20, 1918, to Thomas Bernard Crowley and Mary (Grue) Jammes of Hawley, MN. She had two half-brothers, Maurice "Smokey" and Clayton Jammes from her mother's previous marriage to James Jammes, who passed away.

Her early years were spent on a farm northwest of Hawley. After her father's untimely death in 1927, and the stock market crash of 1929, her mother sold the farm and they moved into Hawley, where her mother worked for her brother-in-law, Axel Peterson, in his mercantile store. Her grandparents, Ernest and Eline Grue, built and ran a hotel/restaurant in Hawley.

On June 20, 1935, Eileen was united in marriage to Floyd H. Dewey of Felton, MN. He passed away on January 16, 1987.

For many years they resided and farmed southeast of Felton. To this marriage four children were born: Mary (Bud) Fossen, Elizabeth (Don) Carlson, Robert (Mary Lou), and Daniel. In 1964, they rented their farm out and purchased a home in Felton, where Eileen had resided until moving into the Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN, where she died Monday, August 30, 2004, at the age of eighty-six.

Eileen was a lifelong member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the ladies aide, and enjoyed participating in Bible study. She also enjoyed many hours with her friends at the Felton Senior Citizens Center playing cards and quilting.

In addition to her children, Eileen is survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren. Her parents, husband, and one grandchild preceded Eileen in death.
