Elaine H. Peterson, 65, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, in St. Mary's Regional Health Center, Detroit Lakes.
Elaine Helen Peterson was born October 9, 1940, in Fargo, ND, to Harry and Naomi (Peterson) Hanson. Elaine was raised in Fargo where she graduated from Central High School in 1958.
Elaine worked for Northwest Bell Telephone Company before she married Roland Peterson on April 6, 1960, in Germany. They moved back to Fargo in April of 1961, and she resumed work for Northwest Bell at that time. She worked as a service dispatcher for a total of thirty-seven years, until she retired in 1995. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1997, and spent the winter months at their home in Apache Junction, AZ.
Elaine's faith in her God was most important to her and she strove to live it every day of her life. She participated in Bible study at their church as well as in their home. She gave of herself to her children and grandchildren and it showed in many ways, particularly in her delicious homemade cooking and baking. Elaine also enjoyed the time spent in her beautiful flower gardens and working crossword puzzles.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Roland, Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Shelley (Jon) Lundborg, Moorhead, MN, and Kathryn (Alan) Hiebert, Chanhassen, MN; three sons, Randall (Barbara), Carrington, ND, Steven (Barbara), Big Lake, MN, and Daniel, Detroit Lakes; five grandchildren, Jana, Miranda, Jacob, Abigail, and Noah, with grandchild number six due in February of 2007; and two brothers, Donald (Marilyn), Fargo, and Wayne (Ellen), Omaha, NE.
Visitation: Tuesday, August 15, 2006; one hour before the funeral.
Funeral: Tuesday, August 15, 2006; 10:30 AM in Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
