Elaine C. Scheer

Elaine Corrin (Erickson) Scheer, age 86, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Sanford Health West in Fargo, ND. Elaine was born November 7, 1936, in Sharon, ND. Her parents were the late Clarence and Selma (Petterson) Erickson. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1954.

On June 10, 1956, Elaine married William “Bill” Scheer at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Fargo. They had 3 sons, Bradley, Craig, and Kirby. They lived in Moorhead until 1978, before building their home near Downer, MN.

Throughout her working days, Elaine served in administrative roles, most notably for churches. She was active in several organizations. Elaine served as President of the WELCA, Northwestern MN Synod of the ELCA, Blandin Alumni Board, Skree Township Election Judge, Clay County Fair Judge, 4-H Leader, and held many positions at Gran Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN, where she was also a member.

With many of her roles, Elaine was able to travel to places like Orlando, FL and Los Angeles, CA.  But when she was called to go on a companion trip to India, there was an additional level of enthusiasm.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Vernon and Arthur; sister, Hazel Bakken; and son, Craig Scheer.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Bill; sons, Bradley (Peggy) Scheer, and Kirby (Denise) Scheer; daughter-in-law, Darcy Scheer; and six grandchildren, Kaylee, Brittany, and Riley; Kyla and Brynn; and Danielle Beske.

Visitation for Elaine will begin at 10 AM, followed by a funeral at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Gran Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN.
