Elden “Bud” Harveland, 82, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Elim Health Care Center, Fargo, surrounded by family.

Elden “Bud” Lee Harveland was born April 2, 1940, to Iver and Myrtle (Bjorland) Harveland Thorson, in Devils Lake, ND. Bud was raised in Hampden, ND where he graduated in 1958. After high school he went to Mayville (ND) State University. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, on November 24, 1960. He completed basic training at Fort Ord in California and was assigned to Camp Grafton where he worked in the motor pool and achieved the rank of E4.

On March 22, 1968, Bud was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janice Molmen, in Devils Lake. Together they made their home in Wales, ND, and raised four children. The family moved to many different places over the years. Eventually they moved to Fargo, where they lived since.  Bud worked a few different jobs, mostly farming, electrical work or working with the Fargo Housing Authority.

Bud enjoyed building things and working in the shop. He made miniature buildings, covered wagons, and doll houses for his grandchildren. He enjoyed wood working but was always finding something to work on in the garage. Fishing was another hobby Bud enjoyed. His biggest passion was his family, and he enjoyed all the time he could spend with them. He was very hard working and thought of everyone else before himself.

Bud is survived by his wife, Jan; his children, Rick (Jolene), Jim (Theresa), Jason (Cathy), and Ann Marie (Tom); grandchildren, Kiesha (Stuart), Mychal, Tyler (Mackenzie), Jade (Ari), Brandon, Logan, Brenna, Sydney, Jennifer (Austin), Rylee (Dustin), Jacob, Madison, and Jerica (Charlie); great-grandchildren, Jerzy, Ryatt, Barrett, Graysyn, and Karsyn; siblings, Wayne (Linda) Harveland, and Carol Veer, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Thorson, Iver Harveland, and Hank Thorson; and siblings, Arlene Stewart, Marlys Loewen, and Gordon Harveland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 5 PM to 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM.
