Eleanor "Elly" Fick was born to Henry and Clara (Kruse) Larson in Clarkfield, MN, on November 18, 1924. She moved with her family to Nome, ND, and then to Hope, ND, where she attended school and graduated from high school in 1942. She went on to attend Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND, and worked for W.W. Wallwork and N.W. Auditing Company.
She and her sister Clarice, known as "Sally and Sue", sang on WDAY radio Early Morning Show for three years. She was married to Harvey Fick of Litchville, ND, on November 19, 1945, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. They moved to Hope, ND, where they lived for twenty-five years. In Hope, they had a singing group called the "Fick-Boeder Family", consisting of Harvey and Elly's family and Lu and Maynard Boeder's family. They returned to Fargo where Elly was employed at Cass County Social Services. She retired and then worked part-time for five years for Productive Alternatives of Moorhead, MN. Harvey died in August of 1980.
Elly had two great hobbies - one was decorating and selling beautiful old rocking ponies and the other was playing keyboard and singing for numerous nursing homes in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
She is survived by her four children, Robert (Elaine) Fick of Moorhead, Terry (Karen) Fick of Omaha, NE; Jene` (Keith) Kluver of Moorhead, and Jerilyn "Jeri" Fick of Fargo; her grandchildren, Jayleen (Leonard) Schell of Thornton, CO, Melaina (Nick) Maloney of Las Vegas, NV, Angela Fick of Omaha, Kellie Kluver of Moorhead, Kasey (Samantha) Kluver of St. Cloud, MN, Chelsey Fenske of Fargo, Melissa (Eric) Olson of Fargo, Melanie (Eddie) Wade of Omaha, Beth (Darin) Mann of Omaha, Kari (Jeff) Kopel of Auburn, IN; and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two siblings, Lu (Maynard) Boeder of Tacoma, WA, and Darold (Pat) Larson of Fargo; and two sisters-in-law, Cecelia Larson of Dallas, OR, and Jean Larson of Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Harold Larson and Jerry Larson; two sisters, Clarice Erickson and Rose Thies; and two brothers-in-law, Wally Erickson and Rudy Thies.
Visitation for Elly will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 11 AM, in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
