Eleanor "Norie" Ohnstad

Eleanor "Norie" Ohnstad, 90, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Argusville, ND, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Eleanor "Norie" Louise Eaton was born May 1, 1926, the daughter of Elmer and Frances (Klieman) Eaton, in Sykeston, ND. She grew up on a farm until moving into Sykeston, in 1942, where she graduated from high school in 1943. Eleanor continued her education in Fargo, ND, and graduated from St. John's School of Nursing. She then enrolled as a member of the U.S. World War II Cadet Nursing Corps on January 24, 1945.

Eleanor taught in rural schools until she moved to Moorhead and worked in the office of Dr. Holten for many years. On March 27, 1981, she was united in marriage to Bernard J. Ohnstad in Georgetown, MN. They made their home on a farm in rural Argusville until moving into Moorhead.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Georgetown.

Eleanor loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours helping Bernard in the fields and caring for their farm animals.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard; sisters, Ruth Phalen, Grand Forks, ND, Laura (Roland) Friezen, Cathay, ND, and Ann (Phil) Curtin, New Richmond, WI; brother, James Eaton, Moorhead; sisters-in-law, Judy Eaton, Moorhead, and Susan Ohnstad, Argusville; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mabel Schoack, Frances Richter; and brothers, William Eaton and Dr. John Eaton.

The family would like to thank the 3rd floor nursing staff at Eventide for taking such great care of Eleanor.

A Visitation for Eleanor will be one hour prior to her funeral mass.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 12, 2016, at 11 AM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Wild Rose Cemetery, Georgetown, MN.
