Ella Kathryne Johnson was born February 23, 1911, near Willow City, ND, to John and Emma (Bickel) Johnson. She was raised on the family farm near Willow City and attended country schools for her education.
Ella was united in marriage to Edward Brimie, September 16, 1936, at Rolette, ND. They lived in Rugby, Fargo, and Valley City, ND, before returning to live in Fargo in 1953. Edward and Ella sublet the boys and young men's department of Straus Clothiers, which they operated until they retired in 1972.
Following retirement, they continued to make their home in Fargo. They spent the winter months at their home in Mesa, AZ, for a number of years. Edward preceded her in death on June 14, 2003. She moved to Pioneer House, Fargo, in September of 2003. With her family by her side, Ella went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 1, 2007, at ninety-five years of age.
Ella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She truly enjoyed company, especially family visits. She enjoyed exercising, gardening, creating Norwegian pastries, and remodeling around the home, well into her 90's. Ella was a devoted Christian and active member of Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fargo
Ella is survived by her four daughters, Margaret "Peggie" (Bill) Omdalen, Vergas, MN, Loretta (Tom) Rosenberg Sherman, Wahpeton, ND, Paulette Cox, Oxnard, CA, and Patricia Brimie, Monterey, CA; five grandsons, Scott (Sue) and Randy Omdalen, and Chris (Ang
In addition to her parents and husband, Ella was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Larry Cox and Dr. David Rosenberg; a grandson, Dr. Jason Rosenberg; and seven brothers and sisters.
Visitation for Ella will be Sunday, February 4, 2007, from 3 - 5 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Monday, February 5, 2007, at 1 PM, in the Pioneer Chapel of Elim Home, Fargo.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
