Ellen L. Beutler

Ellen Linnea Boman was born February 12, 1914, on the family farm near Garfield and Alexandria, MN, to Andrew and Ingeborg (Hellman) Boman. Ellen was raised in the Alexandria area where she attended rural school for her education.

Ellen worked as a housekeeper for families in the Alexandria area. She moved to Minneapolis, MN, in 1935, to continue working with one family when they relocated. She also worked for a number of other families.

During WWII, Ellen worked for Northrup King and Honeywell Corporation. She also worked at the Swedish Hospital, and later at downtown Dayton's.

Ellen was united in marriage to Lester Beutler of Drake, ND, on January 26, 1946, at Minneapolis. She kept busy raising their family as they made their home in Montevideo, MN. They moved to Owatonna, MN, in 1959. She worked in housekeeping at Journal Chronicle Printing Company with her husband, Lester. They returned to Alexandria in 1987 so she could assist in care for family members. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1993.

Lester died December 5, 1995, and Ellen continued to make her home in Moorhead. She lived for a time at Parkview Terrace and then The Fairmont. She moved to Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, in July of 2011.

Ellen died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Sanford Health, Fargo, at ninety-eight years of age.

Ellen and Lester were very active in the communities in which they lived. Their faith and church involvement were also important. Ellen loved to knit afghans and gave one to each of her grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her son, Gerry (Karen), Fargo; four grandchildren, SheilaRae Beutler, Moorhead, Shannon (LaFonzo) Beutler-Carter, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Josh (Jessica) Pallansch, Minneapolis, and Kelli Pallansch, San Francisco, CA; six great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ellen was preceded in death by three brothers, Erick, Gust, and Carl; and two sisters, Mary and Anna.

Visitation for Ellen will be after 9:30 AM, Friday, March 9, 2012, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, Fargo.

Her funeral will be Friday at 10:30 AM, at the church.

Burial will be at 3 PM, Friday, in Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria.
