Ellen Mortenson

Ellen M. (Schenck) Mortenson, 93, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Ellen was born on July 31, 1923, to Merle and Cora (Cook) Schenck of Baker, MN. She married Mr. Carroll Mortenson on April 4, 1942. Carroll and Ellen were charter members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Ellen enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. She worked at Neubarth's Jewelry Store for twenty-three years until the store closed.

Ellen is survived by her daughter, Kay (Mortenson) Peters, Mesa, AZ; her sons, Dennis (Dianne) Mortenson, and Jeff (Janet Wright-Mortenson) Mortenson, both of Lake Park, MN; along with ten grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold (Irene) Schenck, Baker; sisters-in-law, Gloria Schenck and Marlys Schenck; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll; sisters, Roberta Lewis, MaryLou Rosenfeldt, and Vera Mikkelsen; brothers, Alton, George, and Milo Schenck; daughter-in-law, Geri (Rapp) Mortenson; and lifelong best friend, Olga Ostrem.

A Visitation for Ellen will be one hour prior to her funeral service.

Her Funeral Service will be Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 11:00 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
