Ellen R. Nelson

Ellen Rosemary Erickson was born February 28, 1930, in Fargo, ND, to Leif and Ella (Kapaun) Erickson. She was raised in Tower City, ND, and graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo. She then attended North Dakota State University, Fargo.

Ellen married Edwin Carl Nelson on January 6, 1951, in Tower City, and they lived and farmed near Perley, MN. Edwin died April 7, 2012, and Ellen continued to make her home on the farm. She recently moved to West Fargo, ND, where she died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at eighty-four years of age.

Ellen was an avid gardener and was a longtime member of the Georgetown (MN) Gardenaires Club.

Ellen is survived by her children, Joyce (David) Cutaia, Apple Valley, MN, Marlys (Rick) Mangus, Castle Rock, CO, Carolyn Nelson, West Fargo, Barbara (Dennis) Olson, Plymouth, MN, and Loren (Nancy) Nelson, West Fargo; seven grandchildren; sister, Lila (Lloyd) Hutchinson, Ayr, ND; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Nelson and Genevieve Erickson; and a brother-in-law, George (Betty) Nelson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Roger (Ramona) and John Erickson.

Visitation for Ellen will be Thursday, July 3, 2014, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral at 10:30 AM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
