Ellen Wright

Ellen Wright, 82, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Ellen Ramstad was born July 21, 1933, the daughter of Clarence and Anne (Studlien) Ramstad, in St. Paul, MN. She was raised in Moorhead, was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, and graduated from Moorhead High School. After graduation she attended Concordia College, St. Cloud State University, and then the University of North Dakota, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in English and Psychology. She later returned to UND to complete a Master's degree in Library Science.

Ellen taught school in Lancaster, MN, the Crookston Agricultural School, where she also served as the Dean of Girls, and Great Falls, MT before returning to Fargo-Moorhead. She began teaching at Fargo Central High School until the fire, and then taught English at Fargo South High School. On June 13, 1970, Ellen was united in marriage to Robert Wright at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They established their home on a farm near Felton, MN. She continued to teach at Fargo South until she retired from teaching in the mid 1990s. Robert and Ellen later moved into Moorhead.

She was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Felton, and also enjoyed knitting, baking, reading and visiting with friends. Ellen was committed to continuing the long standing Norwegian tradition of making sure anyone who visited her home was offered food and never left hungry, if she could help it. She loved her family and her students were very important to her throughout the years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Trisha (Aaron) Tank, Felton; sister, Solveig (Ken) Berg, Dilworth, MN; sister-in-law, Rose Mary (Marshall) Moore, Moorhead; brother-in-law, Roger (Sharon) Wright, Ulen, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert, Jr., and William "Rob" Wright; and nephew, Peter Mead.

A visitation for Ellen will be Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at 11 AM, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton.

Burial will be in the Felton Cemetery, Felton.
