Ellis M. Davidson, 71, Dickinson, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, in St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, ND.

Ellis Maurice Davidson was born June 15, 1937, to Howard Russell and Lutye (Dabbs) Davidson in Dyer, TN. He graduated from high school in Rutherford, TN, and attended Draughns Business College in Nashville, TN.

On February 3, 1956, Ellis married Phyllis Smith in Rutherford where they made their home. Ellis owned and operated a gas/service station for three years then worked as the parts store manager for the Allis Chalmers dealership. He eventually owned and operated his own parts store before becoming a licensed insurance agent.

In 1967, they moved from Tennessee and eventually made their home in Moorhead in 1972, where Ellis was the Director of Sales for Security International Life Insurance Company. The company was sold in 1984 and Ellis began his own insurance agency, Davidson Insurance. In 1993, they moved to Fargo, ND, and in 2005, they moved to Dickinson where Ellis continued to operate Davidson Insurance.

Ellis enjoyed cooking and grilling food and sharing his culinary creations with family and friends. He had a caring spirit and would assist anyone in need. Ellis savored life and lived without regrets. He was extremely proud of his daughters and grandchildren and was a loving and caring husband.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Phyllis, Dickinson; three daughters, Genise (Duane) Buchholz, Fargo, Julye Davidson, Apple Valley, MN, and Jan Smith, Fargo; nine grandchildren, Brian, Shannon, and Ashley Buchholz, Ryan, Shauntae, Shayla, and ReAnna
Visitation: Thursday from 11 -1 in Brookdale Baptist Church, Moorhead.


Funeral: Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 1 PM, in Brookdale Baptist Church.


Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo
