Elois Romaine Edlund was born April 13, 1929, in Fargo, ND, to C. Selmer and Grace (Halgunseth) Edlund. She graduated from Abercrombie (ND) High School in 1946. Elois married Vernon J. Vikander on December 13, 1946, and they moved to the Black Hills (SD) Ordnance Depot in June of 1947. Elois moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1961.
Elois worked at American State Bank, Dakota Bank, and the Madison Hotel. She retired to Ottertail Lake where she loved to watch and listen to the loons, geese, and wood ducks. In December of 2009, she moved to Cozy Country Living in Hawley, MN, where she was cared for by two special angels - Jeff and Ginger Dauner.
Her greatest pleasures were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her passion was animals - all creatures great and small. She loved her horse, Danny, her many beloved dogs and the peace and tranquility of the cabin on Ottertail.
Elois died peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her daughter's home in Moorhead, with her loved ones gathered around her, at eighty-four years of age.
Elois is survived by her son, Todd J. Vikander, Sioux City, IA; daughter, Patricia "Tricia" Rudnick, Moorhead; grandsons, Christopher, Matthew (Jennifer), Jonathan (Katie), and Michael (Anna) Rudnick; and great-grandchildren, Landon and Aubrey Rudnick; and a sister, Dona (James) Duffy.
