Elourice Sewill

Elourice Sewill, 90, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Crookston and Climax, MN, died Monday, November 18, 2013, in Elim Rehab and Care Center in Fargo.

Elourice Marthilda Stortroen was born November 3, 1923, the daughter of Ole and Laura (Olson) Stortroen, in Crookston, MN. She was baptized at Tolgen Lutheran Church in Saum, MN, in February of 1924. Elourice was raised in Climax where she attended District #6, Climax Elementary and graduated from Climax High School in June of 1941. She then attended the University of North Dakota, graduating in the Class of 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Elourice taught school at Pine River, MN, for one year and then worked at the REA office, the Sunnyrest Sanitarium, and as a secretary for a county agent.

On October 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to Charles Cecil Sewill in Crookston. They made their home in Crookston for 48 years. She was a longtime member of Sand Hill Lutheran Church, rural Climax. Cecil died December 6, 2001. Then in 2002, Elourice moved to Moorhead to live with her son, Richard, and later moved to Elim Rehab and Care Center in 2008.

Elourice enjoyed embroidery and embroidered over 100 table cloths. In the 1950's she played piano for broadcast over the radio.

She is survived by her children, Richard Sewill and Susan Sewill, both Moorhead, MN; grandson, Nathaniel Sewill; and great-granddaughter, Sally L'annette Sewill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Cecil.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.

Funeral Service: Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 10:30 AM, in Elim Rehab and Care Center Chapel in Fargo.

Interment: Sand Hill Cemetery, Climax, MN.
