Elsie Grimsley

June 16, 1920 — April 3, 2010

Elsie Grueneich was born June 16, 1920, in Ashley, ND, to Gottlieb and Magdalena (Schauer) Grueneich. She was one of six sisters and four brothers.
Elsie was raised on a farm and her family moved to Underwood, ND, when she was about five years of age. Elsie attended a country school for eight years. She worked on many farms over the years, including a dairy farm where she met her husband, Howard "Whitey" Grimsley. Elsie was married at the age of twenty-three, on October 28, 1943, on the family farm near Underwood.
She and Whitey lived and farmed near Underwood for about four years before moving into Underwood. Elsie and Whitey had three children, two sons and a daughter. Elsie was employed at Prairieview Nursing Home, Underwood, for twenty years. They attended First Baptist Church in Underwood.
Whitey passed away on March 4, 1987, and she continued to make her home in Underwood until she moved to Fargo, ND, in 1995. She resided at Pioneer Manor for many years until she entered the Good Samaritan Society of Fargo, in January 2010. Elsie died Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Innovis Health, Fargo, at eighty-nine years of age.
Elsie's hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, gardening, plants, flowers and playing the piano. She was a member of Calvary Church at Village Green, Moorhead, where she had many friends.
Elsie is survived by her two sons, Gerald (Elaine) Grimsley, Inwood, IA, and Dwaine (Marilyn) Grimsley, Underwood; her daughter, Beverly Jean (Wayne) Hoglund, Harwood, ND; nine grandchildren, David Grimsley, Holli Gruber, Joshua Grimsley, Kathy Morgan, Ca
In addition to her husband, Whitey, Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation for Elsie will be Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 2 PM, in Calvary Church at Village Green, Moorhead.
Burial will be in Underwood Cemetery, Underwood.
