Elsie L. Schulz

Elsie Louise (Zitzow) Schulz, 98, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 5, 2018, at her home in Glencoe, OK, with her family by her side.

Elsie was born in Perham, MN, on May 20, 1919, to William and Frieda (Thom) Zitzow. She was the second oldest of eight children.

She attended school through the eighth grade and then went to work in Detroit Lakes, MN, for Dr. Rutledge and family, as a nanny. She then worked for her dad in a cook shack where she met Lloyd Schulz. They were married June 20, 1939, at her parents' home in Vergas, MN. Their children, Patricia Ann (Lindquist) and Lloyd Howard Jr., were born in the hospital in Perham. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1942, and Elsie lived there until Lloyd died in April 2003, at which time she moved to Oklahoma to be with her daughter and grandchildren. Elsie worked at the Coke plant in Moorhead for 25 years where she bottled, cleaned, and worked in the office.

Elsie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, gardening, fishing, and entertaining friends and family at their cabin at Long Lake in Vergas. Elsie and Lloyd also were members of the Eagles Club and enjoyed dancing. Elsie was also a member of the Humane Society. She was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, where she was in charge of the library, played in the bell choir, and taught Sunday school.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Pat Lindquist, Glencoe, OK; her son, Lloyd (Judy) Schulz Jr., Moorhead; three grandchildren, Paula (Kirk) Hardin, Glencoe, Mary Schaum, Stillwater, OK, and Doug Schulz, Frazee, MN; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Willmar (Marie) and Elmer (Pat); sisters-in-law, Elvie and Ethelyn; and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved cat, Tinkerbell, also continues to receive loving care at her home in Glencoe. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Erwin, Clifford, Alfred, Vernon, and Walter; and grandson, David Schulz.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM, with a memorial service at 11 AM, Monday, July 9, 2018, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
