Elsie J. Larson, 86, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Elise J. Miller was born September 8, 1926, at Valley City, ND, the daughter of Matthew M. and Frieda (Gahloff) Miller. She was raised on a farm near Luverne, ND, where she attended school. In 1942 moved with her family to Moorhead where she graduated from Moorhead High School in 1944. After her education Elsie worked at the Fargo Theatre and also as a waitress.
On September 9, 1946, Elsie was united in marriage to Burton B. Larson in Fargo. They lived in various places before settling in Detroit Lakes in 1954. Elsie worked as a cook for the Detroit Lake Technical College for 30 years and the Detroit Lakes Tribune for many years. Mr. Larson died in 1998 and she continued to make her home in Detroit Lakes until 2005, when she moved to Fargo.
She was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes where she was involved with the First Lutheran Action Core and quilting group. She also volunteered as a cook for Meals on Wheels.
Elsie loved living on the lake, enjoying the birds and beauty from her bay window. She enjoyed knitting, baking, cooking, crocheting, crafts, quilting and was an avid seamstress. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Jim) Robbins, Milnor, ND, Thomas Larson, Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Cynthia Booth, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Tanya (David) Bullert, Stephanie (Jason) Williams, and Troy Larson; step-grandchildren, Sondra Booth and Bethany Booth; great-grandchildren, Garrett Cummings, Timmy Bullert, Noah Williams and Mckenly Larson; and her special granddog, Shali.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burton; son-in-law, Terry Booth; brother, Merlin (Dorothy) Miller, and stepbrother, Tony Williams.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Memorial Service: Friday, May 10, 2013, at 2:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Interment: Hillside Cemetery, Valley City, ND.
