Elwood Vesta

Elwood Victor Vesta, the son of Elmer W. and Nettie (Tuestad) Vesta, was born February 2, 1918, in DeKalb County, IL. He grew up and received his education in the DeKalb area.
During World War II, Elwood served his country in the US Army. He served overseas in Europe and was discharged in 1945.
On June 12, 1947, Elwood was united in marriage to Sophie Ryan, in Bismarck, ND. Following their marriage they made their home near DeKalb, where they farmed until retiring in March of 1989.
In 1989, Sophie and Elwood moved to Moorhead. They later lived at Eventide the Fairmont, in Moorhead. While Sophie was a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, Elwood moved to Eventide Linden Tree. Sophie died on April 30, 2004.
On June 24, 2005, Elwood became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home, where he died on Sunday, July 31, 2005, at the age of 87. Elwood blessed many people with gifts from his garden and his wonderful baked goods.
Elwood is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Mark) Johnson, Peoria, IL; three sons, Dale (Leanne) Vesta, Sycamore, IL, Dewy (Esther) Vesta, Moorhead, and Darrel Vesta, Dublin, Ohio; six grandchildren, Kristine Tamblyn, Katie and Ryan Vesta, Brent and Brad Ve

Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and
one hour before the funeral, at the church.
Funeral service: Thursday, August 4, 2005, at 10:30 AM,
Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church,
Moorhead, Minnesota.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
