Emerald R. Ristvedt

Emerald Rosalyn Strand was born August 15, 1918, at Lake Park, MN, to Theodore and Mabel (Hogenson) Strand. She was raised in that area and attended a one room school for her education. She later attended and graduated from the New York Hairdressing Academy, in Fargo, as a beautician.
Emerald was united in marriage to Lester Ristvedt on July 16, 1940, on the family farm home north of Lake Park. They made their home in Fargo, ND, and in Moorhead, MN. They built a cottage on Lake Lizzie where they enjoyed the summer months for twenty-five years.
Lester died November 18, 1999, and Emerald continued to make her home in Moorhead. Emerald entered Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, in December of 2010, where she passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, at ninety-two years of age.
Emerald is survived by two sons, Larry (Susan) Ristvedt, Fargo, and Dean Ristvedt, Moorhead; two grandchildren, Richard Ristvedt, Fargo, and Patricia Ristvedt, Brooklyn, NY; one sister, Thelma (Sid) Ullrich, Lake Park; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Emerald was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Merl Erickson.
The funeral for Emerald will be Friday, January 14, 2011, at 2 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Visitation will be at the church on Friday after 1 PM.
Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
