Ephraim Phillip Fey, 95, Hawley, MN, formerly of Glendale, CA, died at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND, on March 21, 2011, after suffering a heart attack.
Ephraim was born on February 7, 1916, in Kulm, ND, the son of Phillip and Rosina (Ladner) Fey. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Congregational Church at Kulm. He graduated from Kulm High School in 1936.
Ephraim and Hilda Magdelina Mogck were married in Kulm on January 16, 1938, and left for Sunnyvale, CA, the next day in their Model A with a little trailer.
During WWII, Ephraim worked as an apprentice at Mare Island Navy Yard in the sheet metal and layout department. Ephraim and Hilda relocated to Glendale, CA, in 1950 where he worked for Hehr Manufacturing Inc. He was Vice-President of Engineering until his retirement in 1980. After his retirement, Ephraim was able to return to his life-long hobby of wood working and wood turning. They both enjoyed his retirement years and made many trips back to North Dakota and Minnesota to visit friends and family.
Hilda passed away in 2005. The past five and a half years, Ephraim spent most of his time in Rollag (rural Hawley), MN, with his son, Darryl, and his wife, Clydine.
Ephraim is survived by three sons, Maurice (Mary) Fey, Keith Fey, and Darryl (Clydine) Fey; and a sister, Elfreda (Ben) Reich. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a half-brother, and four half-sisters.
Memorial Service: Saturday, April 2, at 10:00 AM, at Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag, MN.
Inurnment: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, CA, at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to Rollag Lutheran Church.
