Eric C. Corbet

January 18, 1966 — January 16, 2010

It is with deep sadness and profound loss that we announce the passing of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend, Eric Corbet. Eric passed away suddenly of natural causes, in his home on January 16, 2010, only two days shy of his 44th birthday.

Eric was born on January 18, 1966, to Wendell and Edna (Rydland) Corbet. He was raised and grew up in Moorhead, MN, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1984. Following high school he graduated with a Culinary Certificate from Moorhead Technical College. Eric worked in the culinary and food service industry his entire professional life; in the Fargo-Moorhead area, in the ski resorts of Colorado and in the Puget Sound Region of Washington State. Eric's professional passion was everything food.

Eric also enjoyed a love for all things outdoors. Whether it was time spent at the lake fishing and boating or outdoors hunting, he was always up for the opportunity to spend time with family and friends just being outside. His favorite wardrobe choices usually included something camouflage.

If food was his passion, the joy of Eric's life was his three children: Emma, Margee and Jake. He spent the last year of his life renovating the family farmstead near Hatton, ND, into a refuge where he and his kids could spend their time together. When they weren't with him he'd do little but think and talk of the next time they could spend together, and when they were together there was little question of the love that they all shared for each other.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wendell, Sr. and Leona Corbet; his grandmother, Emma Rydland and his uncle and close friend, Carrol Rydland. He is survived by his children, Emma, Margee and Jake Corbet, Brocket, ND; his parents, Wendell and Edna Corbet, Moorhead; his aunt, Idella Rydland, Fargo, ND; his aunt and uncle, Roger and Cecilia Corbet, Owatonna, MN; two sisters, Jane Hinschberger and Ann (Ron) Bachmeier and his brother, Chris Corbet, all Fargo. He is also survived by five nieces, Amber Corbet, Minneapolis, MN, Sara and Staci Hinschberger, Fargo and Simone and Sophie Bachmeier, Fargo; one nephew, Noah Komanetz, Mapleton, ND; and one great-niece, Keara Hinschberger, Fargo; as well as many cousins and friends.

The world feels just a little emptier, today...

Funeral: Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Interment: Thursday at 2 PM in Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hatton, ND.
