Erlis Otto

Erlis M. Otto, age 88, died Friday, January 10, 2014, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN, where she had been a resident since 2006.

Erlis Marie Tripp, the daughter of Zell and Stella (Johnson) Tripp, was born on May 20, 1925, in Lake Williams, ND. She grew up and received her education in Lake Williams and in Pettibone, ND. On October 16, 1940, Erlis was married to Herbert Otto, in Steele, ND.

Following their marriage, they farmed near Pettibone. In 1967, Herbert and Erlis moved to Fargo. Erlis worked at NDSU, until she retired in 1987. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and traveling.
After retirement, Erlis and Herbert spent summers at their lake home near Detroit Lakes, MN, and winters in Mesa, AZ.

Erlis is survived by three daughters, Shirley Otto, Lois (Bill) O'Hara, and Connie Fisher; six grandchildren, Jody (Tim) Lenzmeier, Jill (Brad) Johnson, Janey (Doug) Banfill, Dale (Sandy) Schnetter, Brad O'Hara, and Jetta, and Mandy Jacobson; 10 great-grand-children; and a step-brother, Stanley (Betty) Rohde. Erlis was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, who died in 2002; a granddaughter, Brenda O'Hara; twin grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Jacobson; her parents; a sister; and six brothers.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at Eventide.

Funeral service: Tuesday, January 14, 20134, at 2:30 PM in the Bottolfson Chapel of Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
