Erma Lila Brinkman was born January 13, 1926, to Fred and Bernice (Johnson) Brinkman in Lake Eunice Township, MN. She attended rural school near Audubon, MN, and graduated as valedictorian of her class from Lake Park, MN.
On December 22, 1945, Erma married Raymond O. Nelson in Audubon. They made their home in Hawley, MN, then Hillsboro, ND, eventually settling in Moorhead.
Raymond died on April 7, 1985. Erma became a resident of Moorhead Healthcare Center in 2001, where she died on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at the age of seventy-eight.
Erma was an avid reader and she passed the love of reading on to her children. She also enjoyed working on difficult crossword puzzles and she kept up on current events. Erma was a soft spoken person with a warm heart and caring nature. She loved her grandchildren and was proud that they graduated from college.
Erma is survived by two daughters, Loretta (Roland) Olson, Moorhead, and Becky Holm, Tacoma, WA; a son, Timothy, Roseville, MN; a sister, June Howe, Hayward, CA; and two grandchildren, Angie Holm, Tacoma, and Brian Holm, Sacramento, CA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a stepsister, Shirley Mickelberg; a daughter, Kay Nelson; and a grandson, Larry Olson.
