Erna Frydenlund, age 89, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Erna Laura Zaun, the daughter of William and Pauline (Heuer) Zaun, was born at Valley City, ND, on February 10, 1923. She grew up and received her education in Valley City Schools.
Erna was married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City to Roy Frydenlund on May 7, 1950. Following their marriage they lived in Valley City for a short time before moving to Moorhead, where they have lived since.
Erna was a loving wife and mother. She adored her husband of nearly 62 years and was devoted to him. She cherished her children and always put her family's needs before hers. Her youthful spirit and energy drew many neighborhood children to her and she created a home where everyone felt a spirit of joy. Erna provided childcare in her home and loved and nurtured them with the same loving spirit she gave her own children. After she no longer provided childcare, she worked for Tom's Pizza as a sausage maker for a short period of time.
Erna loved the outdoors and the animals. She and her husband spent many years camping, hiking, and taking pictures. They canoed in the Boundary Waters into their 80's.
Erna was active in the Moorhead community. She was both a Bluebird and Campfire Girl leader. She served as president of the local camera club and was a volunteer receptionist at the MSUM Regional Science Center, near Glyndon, MN.
Erna's faith in God was very important to her. She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where among other ministries she was a faithful "quilter." She served as a Good News Club leader for many years for Child Evangelism Fellowship in t
