Ernest A. Hagel, 96, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Ernest Alexander Hagel, the son of Henry and Marie (Strobel) Hagel, was born Oct. 2, 1913, near Wishek, ND. He attended school in Ashley, ND, and graduated from high school in 1933. Ernest married Elsie Kaseman in 1935. They lived in Michigan and in 1949, moved to Moorhead.
Ernest worked at Cass Clay Creamery, first in Moorhead, and later in Fargo, ND. He retired in 1973. Ernest was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, and had many friends in the Moorhead area. He enjoyed traveling, visiting his family, and fishing. In 2003 he moved to Eventide Lutheran Home.
Ernest is survived by a son, Donovan (Sandra) Hagel, Fort Walton Beach, FL; two daughters, Shirley (Hal) Gunter, Grant's Pass, OR, and Terri (Gene) Golish, Sparks, NV; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gideon and Art Hagel; two sisters, Palma Gehring, and Martha Schnabel; and his parents.
