Ernest E. Willem, 87, Comstock, MN, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Elim Rehab and Care Center, Fargo, ND.
Ernest Earl Willem was born May 1, 1930, to Floren and Anne (Malpert) Willem in Roscoe, SD. At the age of 12 he moved to Comstock where he attended school and worked on the family farm. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea and Japan during the Korean War.
On November 24, 1957, Ernest married Alice Jane Henderson. They made their home on the family farm near Comstock where Ernest continued to farm until his early 80s. In 2016 he became a resident of Elim Rehab and Care Center.
Besides tinkering at the farm, he was fascinated by airplanes.
Ernest is survived by his son, Richard (Judy) Willem, rural Comstock; daughter, Kathy Marx, Brooklyn Park, MN; and a brother, Raymond Willem, Albany, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alice, who died on February 12, 2011.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, followed by the funeral at 10:30 AM in Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, MN. Burial will follow in Comstock West Cemetery.
