Esther Miller, 95, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, in Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.
Esther Remmick was born July 17, 1918, to Peter and Christine (Heupel) Remmick, at home near Danzig, ND. She attended school at Danzig and high school at Wishek, ND, area school, graduating in 1937. After graduation, she received her teaching certificate and taught grade school in Zealand, ND, and Wishek areas.
On July 28, 1940, Esther was united in marriage to Arthur Miller. They moved to a farm near Ada,
MN, where Esther taught school for a short time.
In 1953, Esther moved with her two daughters to Moorhead, MN. She went to Interstate Business College in Fargo before taking a job with Gamble-Skogmo. She then began working for the Moorhead Public Service Department as a billing clerk in 1957, working until her retirement in 1983. She also served as Sunday school secretary for many years for the Moorhead Baptist Church. During that time she moved to Fargo.
Esther became a resident of Eventide at Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, in 2007. In May of 2012 she moved to Ecumen Evergreens Assisted Living in Fargo. She lived a simple life and enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, gardening, dancing, playing accordion and piano. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Lester) Sackreiter, Sun City West, AZ, and Patricia (Donald) Lockhart, Grandin, ND; grandchildren, Anthony (Yasmin) Sackreiter, Tacoma, WA, Kelly Lockhart (Richard) Ehrich, St. Paul, MN, Samuel (Kristie) Lockhart and Ross (Amber) Lockhart, both Grandin; great-grandchildren, Brianna Sackreiter, Gavin and Brody Ehrich, Lane, Reed, and Stella Lockhart; sister-in-law, Dolores Remmick, Franklin, WI; two nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edwin, Elmer and Eugene Remmick; and sister, Edna Remmick.
Visitation: One hour prior to funeral service.
Funeral Service: Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 2:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
